What is the function of the CcM1-C current meter?
The CcM1-C is one of the devices of the CcM Smart metering family, which serves to measure direct and alternating current using a magnetic sensor, and deliver the data via a Modbus RTU connection using an RS-485 bus.
The Smart Meter CcM family of meters consists of a set of devices whose objectives are energy efficiency, reducing power consumption, submetering and/or monitoring of electrical parameters in switchboards of single-phase and three-phase installations, preferably housed in circuit breakers or differential switches. They are ideal for retrofit situations in existing switchboards.
How does our CcM1-C current meter work?
Specifically, the current meterCCcM1-C is part of the CcM family devices known as "secondary" as they only exist within the secondary bus, in which the "primary" devices of the CcM Smart metering (CcM4 and CcM2) act as masters by interrogating the CcM1-C as slaves and feeding them.
Unlike the "main" devices of the CcM family, which are connected to the main bus communications bus directly and are capable of measuring current, voltage, power, energy and harmonic distortion, the CcM1-C current meter hangs from the secondary bus of any of the main equipment and measures current.
How to connect the CcM1-C current meter?
In the case of CcM1-C current meters, it is recommended that they be connected via a communications and power cable (secondary bus) to a primary device of the CcM Smart meter (CcM4, and CcM2), and these in turn will acquire the data from their CcM1-C slaves and make it available to the main bus, although there is the possibility to interrogate it directly through Modbus RTU commands, but this configuration forces to power the devices externally, since the power included in the four-wire cable that connects and configures the secondary communications bus between main and secondary devices of the CcM family is lost.
